These collective communities were originally agriculture based and aimed to be self supporting. Today, with economics as they are, many kibbutzim have added a special skill. One is one of the leading manufacturers of church pews in the world with orders from as far as Australia, South and North America, Europe and or course Israel.
There is plenty of choice with around 30 locations around the country, many of which are located in the Galilee, Jerusalem and the Dead Sea. The kibbutz experience provides you with a great way to explore the biblical and historical places that you have probably only read about.
Many kibbutzim boast swimming pools and sport activities and you can ask for a tour of the kibbutz and find out its history and how it works in today’s modern society.
