Shalom, Over the last few years we have been asked a number of questions about Superstar Holidays, EL AL and Israel. The following are the most frequently asked and I hope they help.
- Q. How long does it take to fly to Israel?
- A. London to Tel Aviv is about 4.5 hours and London to Eilat is about 5 hours.
- Q. What’s the best time of year to go?
- A.While the sun is always shining somewhere in Israel, Eilat and the Dead Sea are ideal winter resorts, while Tel Aviv and the North are most comfortable in spring and autumn. Jerusalem is good to visit at any time of year, but nights can be cold, with occasional winter snowfall.
- Q. What is my baggage allowance?
- A. Economy travel allowance is 20kg of luggage for check in and 8kgs of hand luggage. Matmid (frequent flyer members) allowance is 25kgs
- Q. How long before my flight do I need to check in?
- A. Economy check in is 3 hours before the flight, but check in is usually open up to 4 hours before. Business class is 90 minutes
- Q. Is English widely spoken?
- A. Yes and most road signs and menus are also in English.
- Q. Is there a tour that covers most of the religious sites?

- Q. Do I need a Visa?
- A. Visitors to Israel must ensure that their passport is valid for at least six months after the date of travel. Visitors can remain in Israel for up to three months from their date of arrival (subject to terms of the visa issued). Many countries in Europe, Asia & Oceania, Africa and The Americas will be issued with visitors’ visas at port of entry – these are free of charge. You are advised to have this confirmed before travelling.
- Q. What sort of standard are the hotels?
- A. Majority of hotels are of a very high standard, comparable to 4 and 5 star in the UK, for more information on hotels available see our hotels section.
- Q. Can you drink the water?
- A. Yes, its safe.
- Q. Can I choose my seat on the plane?
- A. Yes, EL AL offers seating allocation, however priority is given to EL AL frequent flyers.
- Q. Is the food in flight Kosher?
- A. Yes all food is Kosher, and you can request special Kosher meals including: Strictly Kosher, Vegetarian, Fruit Platter etc please ask staff for a full list of available meals.
