Tourist Information
Eilat is perfectly placed for exploring the rest of this fascinating region: historical Jerusalem, the Dead Sea and Masada; unique Petra in Jordan and the border with Egypt are all easily accessible. Whether you want to lie on the beach and read, want a more active holiday with the choice of water sports, diving and desert safaris or want to explore the region. Eilat has it all.
A wide variety of activities are available, from swimming with dolphins to riding camels and diving in the clear waters of the Red Sea. Within the precincts of the coral reef, with its stunning population of tropical fish, is the excellent Underwater Observatory.
Eilat is divided into three main areas, the North Beach, Coral Beach and the Lagoon. The North Beach and Lagoon are connected by a promenade; by day offering shops, market stalls, falafel stands and bars all in the shade of the beach palms. At night the promenade becomes the focus of Eilat’s night life with live music, shopping and an unlimited choice of international cuisine.
In and around Eilat
Escape the crowds and cross the border to Sinai’s simple beaches or visit Jordan’s Petra where Nabatean tombs dot the red-hued cliffs in the east. Just an hour away, at Timna Park, you can find canyons, caves and cave paintings. Hike or take a 4×4 along desert trails and ancient wadis to the Red Canyon.
Weather
Warm waters and sun drenched skies make Eilat a year-round destination. It is a perfect winter getaway and ideal for true sun worshippers.
Nightlife
Walking along the promenade in the evening you will get a feel for the many bars. One of the most popular with young and old alike is the 3 Monkeys which has a regular schedule of live music. Many of the hotels have their own evening entertainment and night clubs or you can follow the promenade down to the lagoon entrance for a selection of beach bars and clubs.
The World Beneath the Waves
The Gulf of Eilat is the perfect place for swimmers, sunbathers and water-sport worshippers. With sea temperatures at around 72’F (22’C) all year round, Eilat has become a top destination for divers around the world. And with the coral reef running right along the sea shore, it’s easy to discover the vast undersea paradise, inhabited by millions of colourful fish. In association with the Isrotel Red Sea Sports Club, Superstar Holidays offers a range of diving packages. You don’t have to be qualified – you can learn to dive from scratch in just five days. The Isrotel Red Sea Sports Club offers full professional tuition (with English speaking instructors) and the hire of quality equipment.
“Dear Charlene
I know I rang but I wanted to write as well to thank you for a great holiday in Eilat. The highlight was seeing my grandchildren interact with the dolphins. We got some fantastic pictures and the memory will stay with us forever. Great hotel, good food, plenty to do, the weather was perfect and of course the dolphins.” Thanks you, James Baldwin

“Dear Charlene
Please pass my thanks on to Ancilla for arranging our holiday to Israel. The combination of Jerusalem and Eilat worked perfectly. Stopping off at the Dead Sea to cover ourselves in mud was not something I would have thought of, but I am glad we did it. Fabulous experience. The whole trip has made us determined to return to Israel and you can be assured we will be booking with Superstar.” Yours sincerely, Simon and Grace Bird.
